What does our research show?

That keeping a food diary helps people lose weight and keep it off. That given the right tools, obese pregnant women can gain no weight and have healthy babies. It shows that if you send patients an at-home screening test for colon cancer, most of them will complete the test and mail it back. Our research shows that service dogs help veterans manage post-traumatic stress disorder, and it reveals that culturally tailored health interventions can improve outcomes for underserved populations.

Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research Welcomes 30-Year Research Veteran Lucy Savitz as New Director

Lucy Savitz, PhD, MBA, a health services researcher with decades of experience translating scientific findings into clinical practice, will join the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research as its new director in May. Savitz will replace Mary Durham, PhD, who retired in November.

New Model Will Help Health Care Providers More Accurately Assess Breast Cancer Risk in Hispanic Patients

The Hispanic Risk Model is the first breast cancer model based exclusively on data from Hispanic women. It was developed by a Kaiser Permanente researcher and his colleagues and is published today in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
