Renowned Neurologist Frances Jensen to Deliver Annual Saward Lecture
Frances Jensen, MD, an internationally recognized expert on adolescent brain development, will deliver our 27th Saward Lecture on October 30, 2017. The lecture will be held at the Newmark Theatre in downtown Portland. Tickets are complimentary, and may be requested at www.kpchr.org/saward.
Through her experience as a researcher, physician, and mother, Dr. Jensen has gained a multitude of insights into the teenage mind—including how teens learn, how they respond to stress, and how their brains are affected by drugs. Her best-selling book, The Teenage Brain: A Neuroscientist’s Survival Guide to Raising Adolescents and Young Adults, challenges our assumptions and helps us better understand this critical stage of human development. Dr. Jensen is a Professor of Neurology and the Chair of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
The Saward Lecture series is named after Ernie Saward, MD (1914–89), the medical director of Kaiser Permanente Northwest from 1948 to 1969. Dr. Saward founded the Center for Health Research in 1964.
