You're invited to attend free CIDA training at the Center for Health Research
Stories - Mar 5, 2019
The FDA Sentinel Initiative and the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research would like to invite you to attend a free one-day training on Sentinel’s Cohort Identification and Descriptive Analysis (CIDA) tool. CIDA is a flexible SAS-based analytic tool that can identify and extract cohorts of interest from data in the Sentinel Common Data Model format. It has been used in hundreds of FDA-initiated requests that have supported medical product safety assessments.
This full-day training will be comprised of a series of presentations and hands-on exercises exploring CIDA’s capabilities. We will review multiple requester-defined options (e.g., exposures, outcomes, continuous enrollment requirements, incidence criteria, inclusion/exclusion criteria, relevant age groups and demographic criteria such as sex and race) and guide participants through hands-on exercises on how to answer epidemiologic questions using the tool.
During the training, a SAS®-based lab session is planned that will walk through parameterizing the CIDA tool for a sample query. Participants should be proficient in SAS and will require the following technical components to participate:
- A personal laptop and charger
- SAS (University Edition is acceptable)
- Microsoft Excel
The training will take place at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research at 3800 N. Interstate Avenue, Portland, Oregon and will run from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Registration for all attendees is required.
There will be a cap of 40 participants. When full, a wait list will be created. For questions or more information, please contact the Sentinel Training Team.
