John F. Dickerson, PhD

John Dickerson, PhD, is a health economist and biostatistician interested in modeling patient and provider behavior related to adherence as part of observational and controlled research studies.

Dr. Dickerson, who has held several roles at CHR for 20 years, joined CHR’s Biostatistics Core in 2015. He is currently working on several projects using innovative techniques to attempt to isolate the causal effects of patient adherence on targeted outcomes as part of controlled trials and observation studies. These studies include evaluations of a financial navigation intervention in cancer treatment and a suicide prevention intervention among at-risk youth.

Dr. Dickerson earned a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University, a master’s in economics from Oregon State University, and a PhD in health services research at the University of Washington with dual concentrations in health economics and statistics. His dissertation research focused on the role of patient adherence in the treatment and prevention of depression.
