KPNW Healthcare Improvement Program

KPNW Healthcare Improvement Program

The KPNW Healthcare Improvement Program (HIP) is bringing the best to the Northwest to provide the highest-quality, most affordable care in the region. HIP is a 9-day course for Kaiser Permanente Northwest health care professionals that offers a practical, in-depth foundation for teaching, implementing, and investigating quality improvement, outcome measurement, and management of clinical and nonclinical processes.

Objectives

The HIP course is designed to train KPNW senior leaders, management, and front-line health professionals in the theory and application of cost and quality control as well as the health services academic infrastructure. The course is designed to facilitate the development of skills and competencies needed by community physician leaders, clinical team members, and administrators to actively lead, participate in, and direct organizational clinical management efforts.

The purpose of HIP is to give scholars the understanding and tools necessary to conduct state-of-the-art clinical practice improvement projects and use quality improvement methods to manage and integrate clinical processes.

As part of the course, scholars must select, complete, and report on an improvement project as part of their selected team. Center for Health Research staff will provide consultation throughout the project.
