Arthur Runquist
(1891-1971)
Education:
University of Oregon;

Biography:
Runquist completed two murals for the WPA in 1938 at the University of Oregon
and murals for the Pendleton High School in 1941. He worked at the Kaiser
shipyards in Vancouver, WA from 1942-45. His painted documentation of the
workers gained him a reputation for social commentary. His landscapes were
secondary in importance to the people appearing in them.
